When it comes to a dinner that I really enjoyed, Im reminded of the big dinner we had last year to celebrate our traditional Mid-Autumn Festival. It is also known as Moon Cake Day, which falls on the 15th day of the 8th month in the Chinese lunar calendar. You can see a lot of moon cakes popping up in grocery stores at this time of year. They’re pretty much everywhere.

Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the three most important holidays that Chinese people celebrate, second to the Chinese New Year. This is pretty much the Asian version of Thanksgiving because this is a day where family is reunited and they celebrate under the moon. So every year, my family will have a big meal together. Normally, we would prepare some traditional and popular dishes for the festival, among which my favorite is always steamed hairy crabs, which may sound pretty weird but is surprisingly delectable. It’s definitely a must eat. After the meal, we would share moon cakes and have some conversation together.
